Live Your Dream Awards

Soroptimist's Live Your Dream Awards program is a unique education award for women who provide the primary financial support for their families. The Live Your Dream Award helps women through a $1,500 grant to have the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.
Applications are submitted through the portal link below from August 15 to November 15 of each year.

Violet Richardson Award 

This award is named after Violet Richardson, the first president of the first Soroptimist club in Alameda County, CA in 1921.  An award is given to young women ages 14-18 whose volunteer activities make the community and world a better place.  This award is first given at the club level followed by submission to district judging for additional awards and recognition.

Women's Opportunity Award

The Women's Opportunity Award originated in 2019 in memory of member Diana Mogel.  This award recognizes women who are motivated to gain additional skills through further education or training to achieve an elevated employment status but do not have the resources to do so.  Click on "Learn More" to find information about eligibility.

Kathleen McVey Youth Citizenship Award

This award recognizes young people who make outstanding contributions in home, school, community, and country and is in memory of Soroptimist Kathleen McVey for the many contributions she made to her community.

S.T.A.R. Award

Sarah Turner Award for Resilience (STAR) honors a high school senior who has a desire to further her education and who has struggled to overcome adversity in her life.  This award is named in honor of long-time member and teacher, Sarah Olson Turner, who advocated for young girls throughout her career.

Ruby Award 

The Ruby Award recognizes women who have worked to improve the lives of women and girls through their professional and/or volunteer work: named in honor of the first federation president, Ruby Lee Minar.
